Early Fall Updates
Fall classes, local events, and dispatches from the studio!

Hi Friends!
Fall is in full swing and the studio has been bustling. I’ve been working on a steady stream of commissions while working on my own projects and helping out folks attending the Open Sewing Studio sessions. We had a lovely time at our Open House as part of Design Week RI and got to feature three local businesses (La Forza Tarot, The Faerest Realm, and Ashley B Stitchery).
I wanted to send a little mini newsletter to highlight some of our late fall offerings. I love fall, it ushers in what my friend Piper refers to as, “Little boots, little jacket” season. Speaking of jackets, there’s still space in Monday’s Sew a Chore Coat class if you want to make the perfect little fall jacket! I am obsessed with the sample I made for the class (pictured below) featuring some patch pockets crafted from naturally dyed and cyanotype fabrics. The jacket itself is made from donated fabric from our reuse center. We have so many excellent fall fabrics to explore including denim, wool, and corduroy! So if you’re keen to start a fall sewing project, look no further.

While we don’t have regular hours for shopping, I am typically in the Monday 10-4, Tuesday 1-5, Thursday 1-5 and Friday 10-4. Please send us a DM on Instagram if you’d like to book a shopping appointment or feel free to just stop by and see if we’re open. Speaking of cozy, there is still space in our incredibly fun Sew a Patchwork Vest class. It’s such a fun opportunity to experiment with patchwork, use up scraps, learn a bit of quilting technique, and make a unique layering piece all at the same time.
Craft night has been going strong as well! This free monthly event takes place every last Tuesday (the next one is on Tuesday October 28th) and it’s always so fun to see what people are working on. Bring your knitting, crochet, embroidery, sewing project, whatever! The studio is yours from 6:45-9.

Some other updates from the studio. We now have a Cricut and heat press for you to use to create vinyl decals and heat transfers. This month we helped Cal make a banner for their college’s wellness club. Maybe we can help you with your project too! Use of the space is $10/hr and includes access to equipment but no assistance (beyond answering questions and friendly advice of course). If you need help working on a project, you can also come to Open Sewing or book a private lesson.
People often ask me if they can book a friends night out or have their birthday party at Patchwork. The answer is, YES! Pretty much any class we offer can be booked as a private group even for you and your friends or family. You can also bring your favorite snacks and beverages and choose the music. Learn more here and reach out if you have any questions or class ideas!

Meanwhile, I’ve been enjoying playing around with natural dye, trying my hand at wet leather molding, and continuing to learn how to screen print. I love learning new materials and techniques and I’d love to help you with your craft/textile project. This week I helped screen print bandanas, mix dyes for tie dye, and puzzled out a pattern for a video game themed Halloween costume. Lets make your creative dreams a reality!
Seasonal Studio Playlist
I collected quite a few jangly country-esque and garage rock tinged tunes in my liked songs this summer, so I’ve gathered them into a lil playlist for your enjoyment (if you like that kinda thing).
That’s all for now! Thanks for reading and hope to see you at a class or craft night soon!
