It’s happening! Patchwork Community Craft finally has a physical home after nearly a year searching for the perfect spot! I’m excited to have you follow along with me as I share my progress getting the space set up!
The mood board for the Patchwork Community Craft Studio! A warm analogous color palette saturates an amalgamation of retro and industrial inspired diy style furniture, including plywood seating, tables with colorful plastic storage bins, and painted peg board.
In my last newsletter, I mentioned that I would be offering an option to become a Patchwork patron by upgrading to a paid subscription. Many folks have asked me how they can help be supportive from afar! This seemed like a good start and I’m hoping to eventually grow this mini-membership to have more options including open studio time, discounts on classes, etc.
I thought I’d give you a little peek into what I’ll be sharing and what will be available to you as a paid subscriber.
For now, here’s what you’ll get from the $5 monthly (or $50 yearly) paid subscription:
You’ll get exclusive behind the scenes updates as I build out the Patchwork Community Craft Studio!
Your monthly contribution will go towards setting up the space and eventually providing scholarships and free classes.
You’ll receive updates about new classes before they are officially announced and be able to secure your spot before the general public. You’ll also get 10% off classes!
If you’re local, you’ll gain access to our Lending Library! I have a large collection of books on sewing, patternmaking, dyeing, weaving, knitting, and architecture!
Other perks TBD!

For now, here’s a lil preview…
Our physical space
Last month, I signed a lease to rent a space in my little town of Norfolk, MA. But finding it took nearly a year of searching! When I set out to find a space, I had a list of non negotiables as well as a wish list:
Must Haves:
approx. 600-1000 sqft
ample parking
accessible (no stairs, curbs) - this one was surprisingly hard in New England!
in my price range
Wish List:
natural light
high ceilings
private bathrooms
access to public transportation
in an active commercial area
The summer and fall were a goldilocks-esque search for a workable space, finally culminating in finding one right in my own backyard: about a 5 minute drive from my house. It meets all of my non negotiable needs, as well as a few on my wish list: two private bathrooms, walking distance from the commuter rail, and while not in a super active area, it is walkable from the very minimal Norfolk ‘downtown’.
While it doesn’t get a ton of natural light, the front façade is nearly all windows, which is lovely. Here’s a little mockup I did of the storefront so you can imagine it:
A mock up of the front façade made in photoshop: A brick building with a glass door and three full sized windows with a brick archway on top. Inset is a sign with the Patchwork logo. The windows have murals painted in the bottom half in shades of red, orange, yellow and green. Vintage planters hold a collection of colorful plants.
I’m a very visual person, so these types of mockups are super helpful for me in planning and preparing and I’m sure I’ll make many more before this process is done…
