A view of our reuse center packed full of fabric, notions and more with our pride flag displayed!
Hi folks,
🌈Pride month is just around the corner and as a queer business owner, you bet I’m taking the opportunity to host some fun events! This lil mini newsletter should hopefully get you excited about them. I’ve also highlighted some fun craft related pride things and upcoming classes, so enjoy!
Pride Patch Party
The first ever pride was a riot, so in this spirit we’re kicking off pride month with a Patch Making Party on Saturday June 7th from 2-5pm! There will be pre-made stamps and fabric ink set up, as well blank blocks for you to carve your own message and create a patch! You can even try your hand at embroidery to embellish your patch.

If you’ve never tried block printing on fabric, this is a great chance to do so while enjoying some refreshments and hanging out with other local queer folks and allies! RSVP here. Suggested donation for materials is $5 but NOTAFLOF
Gender Affirming Alteration Workshop & Clothing Swap
Join us Sunday June 22nd from 1-5pm for a Gender Affirming Alteration Workshop & Clothing Swap! This event is a great opportunity to learn how to alter and embellish your clothing to better fit your gender presentation and personal style! Workshop will happen in tandem with a clothing swap so that participants can pick out items and alter them with the help of a seasoned alterations expert and fellow trans-person-in-search-of-fashion-gender-euphoria! Learn more and RSVP here.
Be Gay, Do Crafts!
While we’re at it, I wanted to highlight another event in my locale of Providence RI. Knit Club is hosting Knitting Is A Drag (the morning of our Pride Patch Party, no less)! Go learn to knit in the morning, see some great drag, and then come make patches in the afternoon. Sounds like the perfect day IMO.😉
But Wait! More Classes!
A selection of cyanotypes from one of our Cyanotypes on Fabric Class. Clockwise from top left: Ferns, plants combined with film negatives, buttons, more plants and negatives, masking tape with cut paper and pressed flowers, tissue paper cut outs.
We still have plenty of space in our Cyanotypes on Fabric class! This class is an absolute blast (says everyone who has taken it). It’s a great project for the craft curious who aren’t sure where to start but want to play with making designs on fabric. It takes place Saturday May 31st at 10am! Cyanotype treated fabric is included in the class cost. Just bring items to print with!
A collection of in progress quilts from one of our Make a Quilt classes.
Have you ever wanted to make a quilt? Looking for an excuse to use up random scraps or even find a use for sentimental garments that don’t fit? This class is for you! We’re offering a 4 week Make a Quilt class starting June 4th. Learn the basics of quilting and create a lap sized quilt or wall hanging using cherished fabric or scrappy finds from our reuse center!
Pride Playlist
Here’s a fun and upbeat lil playlist for getting your days started right this June. Includes some gay club hits and some songs that just put me in a “we’re here, we’re queer, get used to it!” mood.
